Welcome to the EVA International Newsletter for October / November highlighting the most recent news and upcoming events in the EVA calendar.
#1 Never Look Back – A new initiative launched to revisit EVA’s 45+ year history of producing contemporary art exhibitions and events in Limerick:
- The inaugural projects of Never Look Back will include a website & digital resource designed by An Endless Supply, and the first of a series of curatorial commissions that respond to EVA’s history in Limerick – by RGKSKSRG (Kate Strain & Rachael Gilbourne) and Michele Horrigan (Askeaton Contemporary Art). #2 Culture Night exhibition – artists’ printed ephemera at the EVA Office and Archive:
- On Culture Night (23 September 2022) EVA International presented an exhibition of local artists’ printed matter that celebrated the zine as an artistic format. The exhibition was accompanied by materials from EVA’s archive, including print publications by John Waid, Melanie Jackson & Esther Leslie, Jacob Kolding, and Ciara Phillips as well as video documentation of works by Vivienne Dick, Daniel Knorr, Paki Smith, Marcel Biefer & Beat Zgraggen. #3 Guest Programme Curator of the 40th EVA International Sebastian Cichocki visits Ireland on an artistic research trip during October:
- Guest Programme Curator Sebastian Cichocki (Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw) visits Ireland on a research trip to meet with artists, arts organisations and partake in studio visits across the country, including the Irish Museum of Modern Art, KCAT Arts Centre, the Workhouse Union in Kilkenny, and the University of Limerick. Cichocki’s Guest Programme will be presented alongside EVA’s Platform Commissions and Partnership Project initiatives that will together comprise the 40th EVA International programme.
