Women Artists Action Group (WAAG), 1988

In the active years of the organisation (1987-1991), Women Artist Action Group (WAAG) members continued to collaborate with the artists, art historians, and professionals working in arts from the North, especially with Northern Ireland’s Women Artists Group (NIWAG). The unsigned text below, dated January 1988 and found in the archive of WAAG, elaborates on the effects of the cultural parameters in the women’s artistic practices and highlights the issues around the recognition of the women artists in Ireland, both in the North and the South.
