EVA International at Belltable
A screening programme of works by Irish & international artists as part of the 40th EVA International held at Belltable featuring Songs from the compost: mutating bodies, imploding stars, 2020 by Eglė Budvytytė and NО̄, 2003 by Sharon Lockhart with an introduction by Sebastian Cichocki, curator of the Guest Programme on 28 October at 4pm.
Songs from the compost: mutating bodies, imploding stars, by Eglė Budvytytė is shot in the forests and sand dunes around Nida Art Colony in Lithuania, featuring a cast of teenage dancers who wear costumes that have partly-decomposed.
NО̄ by Sharon Lockhart is a 16 mm film inspired by the freestyle form of Japanese flower arranging, No-no Ikebana (‘Ikebana of agriculture’), in which the farmer draws inspiration from materials on the farm.
Biographies
Eglė Budvytytė is a visual and performance artist who lives in Vilnius (LT) and Amsterdam (NL). Budvytyté has presented work at public arts institutions and galleries including Uppsala Art Museum, (SE), Whitechapel Gallery, London (UK) and the 59th Venice Biennale (IT).
Sharon Lockhart is a photographer and filmmaker who lives in Los Angeles (US). Lockhart has presented work at public arts institutions and galleries including Gladstone Gallery, New York (USA), Guggenheim, Bilbao (SP) and Kino International, Berlin (DE).
