We’re delighted to share details about Seed STUDIO Reading #6, by Clodagh Emoe with invited author Lucy Jones. Seed STUDIO Reading is an on-going series of site-specific readings with invited authors, practitioners and researchers focusing on urgent issues of our biodiversity and ecological crisis. For Seed STUDIO Reading #6 Lucy read from her publication, Losing Eden: Why Our Minds Need the Wild, 2020.

No advance reading or study was required. Conversations were welcome and encouraged. This event took place at Treaty City Brewery, 24 & 25 Nicholas St, Medieval Quarter, Limerick, V94 EH57.

This event formed part of Clodagh Emoe’s participation in the 40th EVA International Guest Programme The Gleaners Society, curated by Sebastian Cichocki. Seed STUDIO Reading grew from Seed STUDIO, a project that the artist conceived to cultivate and deepen our connection with the natural world. Seed STUDIO was piloted in IMMA in 2022 as a dedicated space independent and collective research and practice centred on ecology. Seed STUDIO has expanded and includes Seed STUDIO; Blueprint, researching self-sustaining methods to enhance the performance and experience of space, Seed STUDIO; Placemaking, exploring and creating infrastructure for human and non-human in and with the community and Seed STUDIO; A Quiet Intervention, reflecting on the vibrancy of life in Goldenbridge Cemetery, Inchicore through a series of physical and experiential interventions, launching September 2024.

Biographies
Clodagh Emoe approaches art as a form of enquiry activated by experience and perception. Her practice is expansive and collaborative; working with practitioners and researcher in areas of philosophy, architecture, botany and ecology to explore our intrinsic interconnection with the natural world. Her work is often site-specific and interventional, drawing on ritual to initiate space for tacit knowledge and affective thought. Clodagh Emoe’s work has been commissioned both nationally and internationally; Serpentine Gallery, London, Taipei Biennial, Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul, Nýló, Reykjavik, documenta XIII, Kaisel, IMMA, Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery, Project Arts Centre, Visual, Centre for Contemporary Art, The Model, Sligo, Grangegorman Development Agency, Maynooth University and the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government.

Lucy Jones is an author and journalist based in Hampshire, England. Her books include, most recently, Matrescence: On the Metamorphosis of Pregnancy, Childbirth and Motherhood; the bestselling Losing Eden: Why Our Minds Need the Wild, which was a Times and Telegraph book of the year; Foxes Unearthed, which won the Society of Authors’ Roger Deakin Award; and The Nature Seed which is about sharing the natural world with children. She previously worked at NME and the Daily Telegraph, and her writing on culture, science and nature has been published in GQ, The Sunday Times, the Guardian and the New Statesman.
