Kale Kultur: NCAD FIELD in association with Åsa Sonjasdotter

Students of NCAD FIELD and artist and lecturer Gareth Kennedy (lead coordinator, NCAD Field), hosted a morning discussion on guerrilla composting, novel ecologies, saving promiscuous seeds and Rhizomatic thought and action as developed at NCAD FIELD site in the Liberties in Dublin.
This event was framed through the use of Kale, which was considered the events principle protagonist. Kale degustations and Kale seed sharing will took place.
This event formed part of Åsa Sonjasdotter’s participation in the 40th EVA International Guest Programme The Gleaners Society, curated by Sebastian Cichocki. The Kale Bed is so Called Because there is Always Kale in it, by Åsa Sonjasdotter in collaboration with Mercè Torres Ràfols and NCAD FIELD was an installation that consisted of dried kale flowers with seed pods, fabric suitable for the saving of seeds, and printed collages of images that trace the trajectories of cultivated, rewilded, and wild kale in Ireland.
This event took place at Shannon Rowing Club, Sarsfield Bridge, Limerick, V94 TK37.
Biographies
NCAD FIELD is a teaching module, led by Gareth Kennedy at NCAD, Dublin (IE) which charges students with developing new “naturecultures”.
Åsa Sonjasdotter is an artist and researcher, who lives on the island of Ven (SE) and in Berlin (DE). Sonjasdotter has presented work at public arts institutions and galleries including Museum of Contemporary Art, Antwerp (BE), Bergen Assembly, Bergen (NO) and Bauhaus Archive, Berlin (DE).
