EVA International Newsletter May / June 2024

#1 Eszter Szakács has recently been appointed as the Guest Programme Curator of the 41st EVA International

  • Eszter Szakács joins the 41st EVA International curatorial team that includes Iarlaith Ní Fheorais and Roy Claire Potter (Selectors of EVA’s Platform Commissions for the 41st edition) and members of the EVA team led by EVA Director Matt Packer. A programme will be developed across Limerick city, due to take place from 29 August to 26 October 2025. For press release details click here.

#2 EVA launches a self-guided cultural heritage trail across Limerick city

  • The trail presents an alternative cultural history of Limerick city through intersecting narratives of contemporary art, architecture and urban development. It features a selection of 21 sites and spaces — commercial premises, museums, ex-industrial units, and public spaces — revealing where notable projects of contemporary art have taken place over the past 30+ years. A panel can be found at each location providing an artistic summary of the project and a QR code that links to further information. Free printed guides that map this trail are available from selected cultural venues and hospitality businesses across Limerick city. A digital version can also be accessed here. This project has been developed as part of Never Look Back, an initiative that charts a history of contemporary visual arts projects in Limerick, drawing from the archives of EVA International.

#3 EVA continues its call for expressions of interest for Board Directors

  • We continue to welcome applications for new Board Directors to help steer EVA’s work through its next stage of Strategic Development. The Board of Directors plays a crucial role in supporting EVA’s small team and its work with artists and curators, providing oversight and guidance on matters of EVA’s programme, operations, and partnerships, while advocating its work among key stakeholders. Incoming Board Directors will be part of a diverse, friendly and mutually-supportive organisational culture, working alongside other Directors from the worlds of Finance, Education, Strategic Communications, Arts Management, and individual arts practice. We would like to hear from individuals with relevant connectivity in the Limerick region, who are willing to give enthusiasm, personality, and vision to one of Ireland’s most long-standing and internationally-reputed arts organisations. Expressions of interest should consist of a cover letter and a brief CV outlining professional experience and profile. Please send to before 31 May 2024.
