Bodily Remembering
Bodily Remembering is a minga initiated by artist and filmmaker Ana Bravo Pérez to work collectively on a ritualistic performance to honour Earth defenders from Abya Yala. Artists, feminists, activists, dancers, friends and other supporters are invited to work collectively on a performance to honour female social leaders who have lost their lives in the frontline of the climate crisis.
A minga (Kichwa concept) is a solidarity meeting of friends, allies and neighbours to work together for a common cause. Relating to this way of organising social meetings, Bodily Remembering is meant to offer a communal setting to reconnect to our bodies and territories and create through performance a collective homage to women that have been defending communities, rivers, mountains, forests and other vital ecological life support systems. The minga consists of two meetings. During the first meeting participants will be introduced into the project and invited to prepare a collective performance that will be held at the Limerick City Gallery of Art on Friday 29 August 2025.
If you are interested in participating, apply as soon as possible and before 1 August 2025. More specific information about dates and locations will be shared after sign-up. If you are interested in participating, please write a short motivation statement to bodily_remembering@proton.me. No professional dance experience is required. Desire to move and explore with the body is enough. Participation is voluntary and is required on both days. Refreshments will be provided to all participants on both days.
Bodily Remembering will be part of the inauguration of the feminist, decolonial anti-monument If we remain silent that will be shown at the Limerick City Gallery of Art as part of the 41st EVA International (29 August – 26 October, 2025).
