Arts Council: New Acquisitions

EVA International is pleased to announce that three  artworks exhibited as part of the 39th EVA International (Phase 1) have been acquired by the Arts Council for their collection. The acquisition of Laura Fitzgerald’s Fantasy Farming (2021), Michele Horrigan’s What A Feeling! (2004) and Eimear Walshe’s The Land Question: Where the fuck am I supposed to have sex? (2020) was announced by Maureen Kennelly, Director of the Arts Council in late December 2020 (see link to announcement here).

Michele Horrigan’s What a Feeling! was presented at the 39th EVA International as part of the Guest Programme (Little did they know) curated by Merve Elveren. Laura Fitzgerald’s Fantasy Farming and Eimear Walshe’s The Land Question: Where the fuck am I supposed to have sex? were newly commissioned for the 39th EVA International as part of EVA’s Platform Commissions initiative. In the same round of acquisitions was also Kevin Gaffney’s Far from the reach of the sun (2018), a video installation that premiered at Ormston House as part of the 38th EVA International’s public programme in 2018.

The Arts Council collection ensures that artworks will continue to be accessible to diverse public audiences throughout the country as part of the Arts Council Collection’s ongoing programme of exhibitions, loans and initiatives.
