Suzannah O'Reilly, Nine Point One Seven, 2003, photoetching installation, dimensions variable

Suzannah O’Reilly

b. 1968, Mexico

Printmaking is a form of genetic printing. The 84 prints presented here are generated from a master copy. The photoetching process, by nature, deteriorates through the edition, creating blemishes and imperfections. Each day of the exhibition one print will be taken down at random and crumpled on the ground underneath. This work illustrates the process and the disposability inherent in animal and human cloning. Each successful animal clone was preceded by numerous fatal failures, and the risks in human cloning would appear to be subject to the same loss.
