Sarah Lincoln
b. 1980, Ireland
Sarah Lincoln employs the strategy of side-stepping recognisable objects’ use value by stressing them in a variety of ways. She often makes out-of-character proposals for these materials or objects, insisting that they resist gravity or change shape. Her work frequently engages with instances where humans have tried to quantify the earth (e.g. NASA’s lunar missions throughout the 1960s or nineteenth-century geological explorations).
