Oisín Byrne with Adam Gibbons
Oisín Byrne and Adam Gibbons presented Speaker I & Speaker II (The New Domestic Landscape) (2021), an installation that brought together a series of songs and short videos produced over the previous two years. Through a process they describe as ‘alongsides, handovers, and mutualities’, they work through a series of shared concerns including their interest in language with its slippages and inadequacies.
Oisín Byrne also presented BOUNCER (2021) commissioned by Isolation TV. A video lecture on themes of intimacy and disgust, it featured two characters BODY and ADDENDUM – both performed by the artist. Through heckling, mimicry and song, the concerns of the lecture are played out.
Oisín Byrne and Adam Gibbons’ participation formed part of Little did they know, the Guest Programme of the 39th EVA International, curated by Merve Elveren.
