This work developed from a self-initiated project entitled Everything is in a state of flux. With this statement in mind I began to question the relevance of outmoded signage systems in the context of modern society. As a graphic design student in my final year, I found through research that current signage systems often exclude and misrepresent a true cross-section of society.
I also found that signage can be quite vague in its attempt to inform accurately. Take, for example, the all-encompassing though exclusive nature of the b symbol. It fails people with handicaps who are not in wheelchairs as the sign attempts to represent all handicaps, from the blind and the deaf, mentally handicapped people and people with prosthetics.
Ideally I would like to place these pieces outside, preferably on a hoarding site, a window space or a space on a billboard. Human Tremors attempts to highlight problems which exist in our society. Hopefully viewers will debate and question these topics.
