I approach social spaces and draw a line between reality, representation and the staging of an experimental art work. I create works that have a certain amount of naiveté, which acts as a start point in the development of my practice and is a prerequisite for the viewer experiencing the work. While I create environments where the surroundings of the artwork are taken into consideration and contemplated upon, I search for alternatives to preexisting structures in society and alter them in subtle ways. The viewer plays an important roll, since it is him who has the power to complete or empty the experience. In my work the viewer actively participates and is free to come to his own conclusion. This characteristic makes my works open-ended and objective.

I transform spaces that I have access to and create a mimic that acts as a platform. I invite these pre-existing structures in society to become a part of these new spaces. While I incorporate the nature of the group or context that I work with, without judging them, they become a part of my work and I become part of theirs; I create 50% of the work.

In my previous works I have worked with groups and contexts that have a characteristic role in society. These contexts or groups are written off by majorities – for example, New Age groups, ex-convicts, Mormons, black-market neighbourhoods, etc. My work creates a bridge between the viewer and a social reality.

I created From Your House to My House for e v+ a 2009. I lived inside the small shed between the recycling bins, and used the garbage that was thrown away to make small sculptures and artist’s books.
