Aydan Murteazoglu

b. 1961, Turkey

Aydan Murtezaoglu is known to change media with each work. This clear and precise logic of working with different materials in different circumstances is not predicated on a search for an ideal medium. It is not an artistic strategy, and as a person who seldom produces new work, it does not come out of a reckless appetite for things. Perverse as it may seem, Murtezaoglu has no interest in objects, but rather thinks through them. Her photographs show herself in situations where her own subjectivity is reflected. Her insecurity becomes our insecurity. Her doubts become our doubts, because through her vision she shows the uncertainties of the world we live in.
