Students present immersive audio installation at Limerick City Gallery of Art
The Young EVA Audio Collective is an education programme for school students to creatively explore and engage with sound technologies at the 38th EVA International.
Students from Thomond Community College have particpated in workshops exploring the exhibition and its themes as inspiration for developing a sound composition. They have been mentored by Composer and Educator Dr. John Samuel Greenwood and facilitators, Bláithín Hughes, Caitríona Moloney and Ciarán Power. The students have created an audio work which explores Ardnacrusha Hydroelectric Dam, and the painting 'Night’s Candles are Burnt Out' (1927) by Irish artist Seán Keating. The students will collect sounds, using sampling techniques to create a layered collage of sound.
On 21 June the collective will present their final composition at Limerick City Gallery of Art as an immersive audio installation. The Young EVA Audio collective has been supported by Ei Electronics.
