Working in partnership with Limerick Greyhound Stadium, Panamanian Humberto Vélez has created a unique race and participative public event in response to Ireland’s greyhound racing culture. Join us on Saturday 12 April to watch The EVA International Cup 2014 the first ever 800 yard Marathon Race to be held at Limerick Greyhound Stadium.
This unique evening of racing will open with a musical marching display led by CBS Pipe Band. For one night only experience this celebratory event with local participants including the Munster Rugby Supporters Club Choir and representatives from Limerick City & County GAA Clubs. Members of the racing community: greyhound breeders, owners, trainers and their families will parade greyhounds of all ages in honour of this heritage sport.
Limerick City of Culture 2014 brings together elements of both our traditional and modern culture. The mission for the year is to provide cultural access for all within the City and its hinterland and to creatively connect with the outside world. Humberto Vélez has created an event specifically for Limerick City of Culture where art, sport and culture are combined. Vélez is a catalyst for other people’s stories, lifestyles and ideas, enabling communities to express themselves in the most positive, creative ways.
This project has been commissioned by EVA International and Limerick City of Culture 2014 in partnership with the Limerick Greyhound Stadium and Irish Greyhound Board.
