Ireland's Representation at the Venice Art Biennale 2015
Tuesday 20th May, 2014
EVA International Director Woodrow Kernohan will curate the Irish Pavillon at the 2015 Venice Biennale Exhibition of Art. Mike Fitzpatrick, currently CEO of Limerick City of Culture and Head of School at Limerick School of Art and Design, will be the Commissioner for Ireland at Venice. Woodrow and Mike will work with Irish artist Sean Lynch, who has been selected as Ireland’s representative at the Biennale.
Both the Commissioner and the Curator have extensive experience of presenting high profile international exhibitions. Mike Fitzpatrick was Commissioner/Curator for the 52nd Venice Art Biennale which saw a very successful exhibition of the work of Gerard Byrne. Woodrow has seen Ireland’s Biennial, EVA International, through its second Biennial edition as our director.
Sean Lynch has recently opened his first UK museum exhibition at Modern Art Oxford and has already attracted strong international interest. He has exhibited in many public galleries and institutions throughout Europe as well as being known for several high profile public art projects, including O'Connell Street, Dublin.
The selection was made following an open competition run by Culture Ireland in partnership with the Arts Council.
